The Half Round Scroll relief is moulded into the black rubber rather than printed on, so the pattern is still there years later when a printed surface would have worn off. Rubber is what you want at a door that gets weather. It does not absorb water, it does not freeze stiff, and it does not go mouldy along the edge the way a fabric mat left out in the rain will.
