Compact enough for a 32-inch-wide wall, this mantel pairs an 18-inch, 1400-watt electric fireplace with a storage cabinet in one 51-pound unit. The insert measures 18 by 17 by 5 inches, puts out 4650 BTU, and heats up to 323 square feet, while resin logs and a flame effect with three brightness settings supply the glow; the flame can also run on its own without heat. Above the firebox, an open shelf rated for 22 pounds holds books or a media player, and the 13-inch-deep top carries up to 13 pounds of frames or decor. The mantel stands 31 inches tall and is built from MDF with steel and tempered glass in the firebox. Its dark wood-grain finish suits a bedroom, den, or apartment living room where a full-size fireplace would overwhelm the space. Assembly required; the fireplace plugs into a standard 120-volt outlet.
