Crystal media replaces the usual log bed here, so the 3 flame colors reflect and scatter instead of glowing over molded resin. Output is 5000 BTU, enough for a room of about 400 square feet, and the heater switches between 750 and 1500 watts depending on how cold the space runs. Three brightness levels adjust the flame, and it operates with no heat at all when only the light is wanted. The insert measures 24.2 by 5.1 by 17.7 inches, weighs 18 pounds and comes with a 6-foot cord and overheat protection. Its shallow 5.1-inch depth fits a stud wall opening without a bump-out behind. Fit it into a mantel surround, a media wall or a bedroom alcove.
