An egg chair earns its shape by wrapping around whoever sits in it, and this one is built oversized so it does that without pinning the shoulders. The shell measures 43-in by 32.5-in by 57-in with an extra-wide opening and a generous overhead expanse, leaving room to sit upright, turn sideways or fold both legs up and curl into a corner of it. Seat height is 12.5-in, low enough to drop into rather than climb up onto. A sturdy metal frame carries the weight beneath the wicker, rating the chair to 450 lb, and adjustable foot pads at the front take the rock out of an uneven floor or paving slab. At 48.5 lb the whole chair is heavy enough to stay put. Cushioning is layered rather than a single pad: an 11-in thick back cushion behind the shoulders, a thickened 5-in seat cushion underneath, and two 23-in by 16-in by 7.5-in side cushions that fill the curve where the arms fall. Every cover pulls off for cleaning. The wicker itself is hand-woven colorfast PE, so the light brown tone holds instead of bleaching out, and the woven texture adds a bohemian note indoors or outdoors.
