Square base, square build: this stand measures 8.5 by 8.5 by 32 inches, so the flat footprint tucks against a wall or into a corner. Four tools hang from built-in side hooks rather than a single top ring, which means any one of them lifts out without disturbing the others. Lengths run from 27.5 inches for the tongs to 28.5 for the shovel, with the poker and the brush both at 28. Solid steel finished in black resists rust and corrosion, and at 14.5 pounds the set stays planted when a tool is dropped back on its hook mid-fire. Each handle ends in a ring that sits comfortably in the palm. It works at a hearth, a wood stove or a covered patio fire pit.
