Six rubber wood legs support this 40-inch coffee table, and the cat compartment is built into the side rather than bolted on, so the piece reads as furniture first. The side bay measures 11.5 by 18 by 11.5 inches, holds 22 lbs and carries a removable padded cushion. An open shelf of 26 by 20 by 11.5 inches spans the rest of the frame for magazines and remotes and takes 44 lbs, while the 40 by 20 inch top is rated to 88 lbs. Natural grain veneer with a metal arched accent suits a rustic or a modern room equally. It stands 18 inches tall, the usual height for a coffee table, and weighs 36 lbs assembled. Cats and small dogs both fit the compartment.
