Two 16" open-ended planter boxes flank the 41" seat here, so a bench and a pair of raised beds occupy one 68" footprint. The boxes have no fixed bottom, which lets plants with longer roots settle properly, and they can be rearranged into a single bench with storage instead. Fir wood sealed with water-based paint holds up outdoors, and the wide slatted seat ventilates while supporting 660 lbs. Slot construction means assembly needs no complex tools. Suited to patios, gardens and backyards, the whole unit weighs 23 lbs.
