A 70-inch planter box anchors this 79-inch wide garden bed, and its interior holds soil across a 67 by 14 inch footprint at a 7.5-inch depth. The box is rated for 220 pounds, so it takes a full load of damp soil without bowing. Above it, side lattice panels and an overhead roof frame reach 45 inches tall, giving climbing roses or ivy something to grip and giving hanging baskets a place to hook. Drainage holes and a bottom gap keep water moving, and the bottom panels lift out entirely when you want roots to run into the ground below. The fir boards carry a waterproof finish in a warm orange tone with a sanded splinter-free surface. At 17.5 inches deep and 34 pounds, it fits along a fence line or against a patio wall without crowding the walkway.
