Lattice panels and a flat roof with crossbars turn this planter into a small garden structure rather than a plain box: vines climb the lattice while hanging baskets and ornaments hook onto the roof bars overhead. The planter box measures 38 by 20.5 inches with an 11-inch soil depth, takes 4.8 cubic feet of mix, and is rated for 130 pounds. Several drainage holes move water out, and the detachable bottom lets roots run into the ground when you grow deep-rooted crops. Natural fir carries a protective coat of paint, and metal brackets reinforce the joints so the frame resists warping through wet weather. The 20.5-inch depth also gives roots room to spread sideways rather than only downward. Assembled it weighs 30 pounds and ships flat for assembly.
