Stacked, the smaller table tucks under the larger one; pulled apart, the two make a pair of side tables or a stepped display. Each rectangular top carries 44 pounds, with the large table at 20 by 12 by 21 inches and the small one at 18 by 10 by 19 inches, both on powder-coated metal frames with thickened engineered-wood boards. Because the tables split, one can serve as a nightstand for a lamp and glasses while the other holds coffee and magazines by the sofa. The rustic brown wood-grain surface is a laminate over engineered board that wipes clean. The open metal frames leave floor space visible beneath, which keeps a small living room or studio from feeling crowded. The whole set weighs 18 pounds, so rearranging the room takes one trip. Assembly required.
