Some of the best afternoons of childhood happen outdoors, and this double lounge chair gives two children a shady headquarters of their own. Built for ages 3 to 8, the wide bench seats two side by side, so siblings or a visiting friend can share a snack, trade stories, or watch the garden from a spot that belongs entirely to them. Solid fir wood forms the frame, polished smooth so there are no rough edges near busy hands and knees. An awning overhead filters direct sunlight while mesh windows along the sides keep a breeze moving through, and thick cushions measuring 42 x 14 x 2.5 in make the seat soft enough for a long stretch of reading or an unplanned nap. The seat sits 10 in from the ground, low enough for small legs to manage on their own. Practical details round out the design. Cup holders keep juice boxes upright, a hidden storage compartment swallows toys and books when playtime ends, and the 37 x 33.5 x 35 in frame supports up to 110 lbs..
